A very Irish 16" square cushion pattern, the background is constructed using a section from an Irish chain quilt and makes a stunning cushion before you even add the appliqué using the same subtly coloured tweeds as are found in the other three cushions in this set. Sue has used her Irish heritage to depict this gorgeous Irish hare, adding a Celtic cross and a crescent moon to complete the design. The irish hare as the name suggests is found only in Ireland and is its own sub species which is distinctive for its shorter than usual ears and brilliant white bob tail.
Using the British Wool Tweed to make your cushion will catapult your work from homemade to handmade; your friends will be so impressed by your handiwork. This cushion is a must for every horse lover.
Don't forget there are three other cushions in this series A Very English cushion sewing pattern, A Very Scottish cushion sewing pattern and a Very Welsh cushion sewing patter; kits are also available for each one too. Each cushion has been designed to incorporate an animal and a landmark pertinent to its own country. Once you start quilting with wool and more especially doing wool appliqué you will be hooked! Our British Wool Tweed is predominantly from the Abraham Moon Mill in Yorkshire a heritage which we, at Quilting Antics, are very proud of. If you have come across the name Abraham Moon you will of course know that the word quality is woven into every inch of the fabric. |
