Etui Box Sewing Pattern

Product Code: Etui Box
Easy to make sewing box pattern. To give it, its Sunday name this Etui Box (pronounced e'twee) is also known as an exploding sewing box. The sides are only joined at the bottom so when you lift off the lid the sides fall down so that all your equipment is to hand when you need it.
These boxes are also known as Victorian sewing boxes or exploding sewing boxes as it is quite dramatic when you first remove the lid to reveal the contents inside. There is hardly any sewing to do all all, most of the construction uses double sided sticky tape, although my City and guilds teacher would have had a fit if I'd said that at college as we were supposed to stitch every joint by hand.
We have covered the mount board of our box with British Wool tweed from Abraham Moon, which makes it far more sumptuous than other run of the mill etui boxes you see. Additionally the sewing pattern contains diagrams which will help you and show you how to tailor your box to suit your own needs.
